— from Pegi Groundwater —
There are a lot of changes for Medicare insurance holders this year. Kaiser is leaving. Premera is coming with two new plans. Everyone who had Kaiser has guaranteed eligibility to buy a Medigap plan if they wish. Drug plan premiums, deductibles and copays are changing.
How do you figure out what to do? SHIBA volunteers can help Medicare enrollees navigate these changes and figure out what to do.
There will be public presentation on this year’s Medicare options Wednesday, October 23 at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center where the new plans will be described.
SHIBA volunteers will at the library from 1 to 4 each Friday during Open Enrollment (except the day after Thanksgiving) to help people review their drug coverage to see if they should make changes for 2020. No appointment is necessary.
Individual private counseling sessions are also available M-F during open enrollment. Just call the local SHIBA office at 360-376-5892 to schedule an appointment.
