— from Jackie Daigle, Friends of Moran State Park —

Friends of Moran is starting a tool drive for the Park. When we learned that volunteers, including camp hosts were using their own tools to help repair signposts, etc. around the Park this past summer, we were a bit shocked.

With over 80 buildings to maintain, including 22 of which were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 30s, the work never ends and tools burn out or worse, get stolen. And, while power tools specifically are always on the list of items to replace, Park staff patiently waits for funding. As governor Jay Inslee once said … “Our state parks are being held together by duct tape and bailing wire.”

So, if you have a tool or two cluttering your basement that has not seen the light of day in years, please consider donating it to Moran State Park. All tools welcomed.

Tools can be dropped off at the Park Office Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm.
Thank you!
