April 26 – 28, Sea View Theatre

— from Donna Laslo for OIFF —

The Orcas Island Film Festival is excited to present a Seven Film / Six Country Mini Film Festival, April 26/27/28, 2019 at the Sea View Theatre.

OIFF film curator Carl Spence has been to all the worlds best festivals to get us the best films (and Carl’s favorites) that will be coming out this summer and fall.  He has created another powerful line-up of films that local film buffs have come to expect from him.

The seven hand-picked films include;

  • KNOCK DOWN THE HOUSE, the audience award winner from Sundance, which was voted best overall docs and narratives.
  • The Glasgow country singing audience favourite from TIFF,  WILD ROSE.
  • Award-winning director Zhang Yimou’s latest SHADOW from China who once again pushes boundaries to create a swordplay epic like no other.
  • Kenya’s banned but submitted to the academy awards lesbian love story, RAFIKI reminiscent of Spike Lee’s early work.
  • Germany’s Oscar Nominated best foreign language film, NEVER LOOK AWAY.THE BIGGEST LITTLE FARM, a most charming documentary on the trials, tribulations, and pitfalls of city folk trying to tame the land for harvest.
  • From India, PHOTOGRAPH by director Ritesh Batra comes a powerfully romantic and gently comedic film which made its world premiere at Sundance film festival this year.

Single Ticket Price: $14.00  |  Film Lovers Pass: $65.00 (less than $10.00 for each film with no fees!)Visit www.orcasfilmfest.com for more information.
