Letter to the Editor: Vote Yes to Complete Park & Rec Process

Hi,

Joe and I would like to remind all San Juan County residents to vote on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Funding a county Parks and Rec. department is on the ballot and we are hoping it will pass.

Joe has been deeply involved with maintaining the tennis courts at Buck Park and helping with youth sports. I was a co-director the first year that the program began back in the early 90’s. We commend the Park and Rec. commissioners for putting it on the ballot again. The people of Orcas Island voted “yes” to a Park and Rec. district, voted in the commissioners and now just need to finish the process by another “yes” vote for funding.

Thank you Kathi. Few people know what thanks we, as a community, owe to Joe for maintaining the aging, deteriorating, tennis courts, all these years, on his own, for the benefit of anyone who wanted to play.
