On Sunday we will have an excellent opportunity to hear about Afghanistan and Pakistan from a leading expert, Dr. Andrew Wilder, who has lived and worked there most of his life.

Personally, I am confused about the region, its issues, and U.S. involvement:

  • What is really going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan?
  • What are the connections and comparisons between Al Qaida and the Taliban?
  • How could the recent announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden affect further U.S. involvement?
  • What is the relationship between aid and security?
  • How do U.S. covert and overt policies compare?

Sunday at 2 p.m. at Orcas Center, rain or shine, we  have a singular opportunity to learn from one of the top experts in the field, and to question him in areas of interest. (For more information about Dr. Andrew Wilder, and to read some of his work, visit www.orcascrossroads.org).

You’re invited to mingle at the reception with Dr. Wilder and your neighbors in the Madrona Room following the lecture.

This lecture concludes the Orcas Crossroads Lecture Series 2010-2011. Tickets are available at Darvill’s Bookstore, the Orcas Island Public Library and at the door.

Come!  Join the conversation.
