Saw daughter, Lauren’s, Facebook post from awhile ago… (just found it)…
And my response, edited

“People DON’T suck . . .well, some of them do, but just ignore them .. or help them.
Primarily people are AWESOME – I”m on a SW flight and the captain is retiring – it’s very festive and I think 1/2 the flight is comprised of his friends/family. THe attendants are handing out food, goodies, and everyone is SO HAPPY!!!
It makes me happy. People are good at the core – sometimes you just have to uncover a lot of “stuff” for that goodness to come out. Be patient.” Lauren H.

My thoughts… in response :

  • Think of how fortunate we/you are:
  • To have had loving, caring, well educated, nurturing people in our lives;
  • To have seen (and felt) what it means to respond to conflict, even tragedy — with empathy, courage and hope;
  • To have the personal integrity and strength to see opportunity or need —and take helpful action without exploiting weakness;
  • To have the intelligence, breadth, and depth to see beyond fatuous dogma and tribal ignorance;
  • To visualize the world thru enlightened lenses — our moments in the sun — aware of our evolved human culture, from thousands of years of careful observation, science, art, philosophy, and wisdom, standing on the shoulders of great women and men who have shown the way;
  • To celebrate our lives well-lived and people loved, even if today is our last;
  • And to live with a sense of humor, and humility — seeing the sovereignty of others. We each have points of light, somewhere deep within.
  • Takes more than one paddle to propel the global canoe.
