— from Sigrid Mather —
Much has been beautifully said here as to why Greg Ayers will be the wisest choice for Orcas Port Commissioner to represent and protect your interests. I will only add that Greg’s daily devotion to the support and betterment of our community is enhanced by his intelligence, strong leadership skills, broad business experience, abundance of get-it-done enthusiasm and forward-looking optimism.
An all around outstanding human being.
Please mark your ballot for Greg Ayers and secure a bright future for the Port of Orcas and our community.

To the Editor
I am going to vote for Bea Von Toble. She has worked for the Port of Orcas for years. I think a strong background in the day to day operation of the Port is essential. New ideas, new dreams may need a little reality to come to fruition.

Protect whose interests? That is my burning question. Essential services? – I think we all agree on those. Safety in the air? Does that have to come at the expense of Safety on the ground? Health and hearing risks to those directly under the flight path in the most densely populated part of Orcas? Noise pollution for East siders and other affected islanders? Protecting against pollution of air, waters, and wetlands? The interests of the aviation industry alone, which by its nature limits who can use it? (cost prohibitive for most of us)
Whose interests? Special interests, or the community as a whole’s interests in keeping our rural character, environmental stewardship, and natural beauty while also thinking realistically about our future in times of increasing climate crisis?
