— from Tony Ghazel —
For all the years that I have known Greg Ayers, I found him to be smart, engaging and has a keen ability to distill complex issues into manageable components where one can make decisions with authority and confidence that the end result is a benefit to the citizens, inhabitants and visitors of Orcas Island. Greg’s volunteer involvement in the Orcas Fire Department, the Orcas Sewer District and other local organizations demonstrate his ability to contribute positively and effectively to the well being of all inhabitants of Orcas.
The Port of Orcas, today more than ever, needs someone like Greg that can navigate the complexities of overseeing the operation of a Port District and an airport that is an essential service to our local community. I want someone in position at the Port of Orcas that can balance the needs of the Orcas community, the users of the airport, the taxpayers that support the Port District while insuring that whatever decisions the commissioners arrive at are implemented in a fiscally responsible manner and if safety requirements need to be addressed. The Port District is considering many challenges to better serve its patrons and Greg’s position is that the airport MUST serve critical functions such as 1) Emergency medical transport, 2) Commercial Airline Service, and 3) Transporting goods through FedEx and UPS and other providers.
Please join me in voting for Greg Ayers for Port Commissioner position 5
