— from Jim Shaffer-Bauck —

One of the most important investments a community can make is in the education of its youth,  an investment that produces returns not only to the students directly benefiting, but also to the character of the community in general. The upcoming bond issue represents such an opportunity.

For less than many of us spend on Cappuccinos, we can participate in the realization of much needed improvements in the quality of the educational experience on our island: relief for students suffering in under-heated classrooms, improvements to the matronly old gym, elimination of dangerous potholes on School Road, a new track that benefits both students and members of the community, additional space for our stellar elementary and string music programs, and much more.

Given the low interest rates, there will never be a better time to make this very significant and noteworthy investment.
