— from Leah Cardinell —
I am writing this letter, first and foremost, as an appreciative alumnus of Orcas Island School District. As a little kid, I was always proud to tell people where I was from. I believe that I felt that way because just being a part of this community made me feel special.
As an adult, having now had the benefit of a college education, and due in large part to the great PreK-12 education I received here, I realize that one of the hallmarks of a great community is the pride taken in those places where they tangibly demonstrate their values – their public institutions.
We have a great one – Orcas Island Public Schools. We now need to invest in its facilities – for the great kids that are still here, and the great kids yet to come.
Please join me in investing in the future of this community. Please vote yes on the bond and levy this November.
