— from Bobby Olmsted —
It is with disappointment and sadness that we tell you Café Olga will be closing in mid-October. The building on Urner Street in Eastsound has been sold, and Bev and I have lost our lease.
Since the arson fire at the Artworks three years ago, it’s been quite a journey: The tragic loss of our business. The shock of an arsonist on Orcas. The challenges of retrofitting a shuttered restaurant and reopening in a new location. And then … the sweet success of the Café’s “new life” in Eastsound these past few years.
How we managed to pull ourselves together and reopen is a testament to friends and employees … really our extended family. And of course, none of it would have been possible without our loyal customers. You have all made it happen! And from the bottom of our hearts, Bev and I thank you. We are forever grateful.
This year marks Café Olga’s 35th year on Orcas. Will it reopen in yet another location? We don’t know, but we hope so. The Journey Continues.

Prior to Viagra I tried Levitra https://pharmtechi.com/levitra/ but it didn’t feel any effect. It was just wasted money. Now I buy Viagra only online at pharmtechi.com pharmacy and this drug works just perfect for me. I was ashamed to have a flabby penis but with Viagra I have completely solved the problem.
Sure hope another location can be found!
The place across from Healing Arts would be terrific….But is their a kitchen?!?!?
I am pleased to advise island visitors to Cafe Olga always
We will miss your famous crab enchiladas ..we wish you all the luck in finding a new nest as soon as possible
I realize that it’s a challenge, but please!!
Cafe Olga really felt like a real community entity every time I walked in. I don’t want to loose you and your good food. Please keep looking . . . . . .
You will be missed beyond imagination if you go away. We will be praying that wonderfulness comes your (and our) way and you will be here for many years to come! Love you, Merry
I second all those above – Paul & Merry Bush said it best – “missed beyond imagination.” You are a part of the Orcas experience.
How sad. My cousins have been up twice from Edmonds in recent months. The first time we ate at Cafe Olga two days in a row because the food was so good they wanted to go there again the next day. They came up for my daughter’s wedding last month and the next afternoon wanted to go to Cafe Olga again. Holding good thoughts for you and Bev to find a new location. I can’t even imagine how much energy and time it takes to do this again, but all of us are hoping for the best. Thank you for providing us with such wonderful food for so many years.
We have the same reaction from most of our guests! In fact, my ten-year-old granddaughter who lives in Minneapolis was beside herself when I mentioned the potential closing to her on the phone this weekend. She said, on no, again? She has that strong a recollection of Cafe Olga at the Strawberry Building, from a very early age.
During the last big blackout, we found ourselves and a dozen islanders congregating at Cafe Olga. It was like an island party.
I’m so sorry. I hope you are able to return.
May your journey continue with happiness, you two have earned it.
Clyde Duke.
