Weaving and other fiber arts are on display at the Senior Center through October

from Jacqueline Kempfer

Fiber arts created by members of the San Juan County Textile Guild can be seen this week at the Orcas Senior Center.

Guild  members are involved in a wide variety of textile and fiber arts including basketry, beading, crocheting, dyeing, felting, knitting, rug hooking, spinning and weaving. We come together during the year in monthly study groups, at meetings which include guest speakers, and during workshops with nationally known teachers, all of which enhance our skills and deepen our community.

Though our Guild includes members with many levels of expertise from professional to beginner, we all learn from each other and share our creative process. The work in this exhibit reflects the broad range of our interests and talents, and demonstrates our passion for excellence.

Contributors at the Senior Center exhibit are from Orcas, San Juan, Lopez and Waldron.  To learn more about the Guild go to www.sjctextileguild.org.

The exhibit can be seen through October 31st at the Orcas Island Senior Center in the Betty Lundeen Room.  Mon – Fri  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
