JULY 4TH WEEKEND SCHEDULE

The Orcas Island Community Parade is fast approaching.  Saturday, July 5 will be here before you know it!  This year’s theme is: “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” – a perfect theme to describe how a small island’s residents look out for one another.

This year’s Grand Marshals will be The Harvey Family! We honor a local family (Rita & Russ, and children Ryan, Rob, Ray, Rich, Renae, and Rachel) that has lived their lives giving back to their community.

Here is the link to the parade sign-up sheet.  Mail it back, or drop it off at the Chamber office. Entries must be returned no later than Saturday, June 28!  We begin the parade at 12 noon … and once again, we thank Island Market for helping sponsor our parade.  See you at the parade!

The Chamber of Commerce has proudly sponsored the Eastsound Fireworks show on July 4th for over 25 years.  As you can imagine, with tightened Homeland Security and Coast Guard regulations, the costs of producing the show has increased – tripling over the last few years.  What used to be absorbed into our budget at $5,000 is now a $14,000 endeavor.  We have partnered with Western Display Fireworks – one of the very best pyrotechnics companies in the Northwest, but are asking for your financial assistance.

Please consider a charitable donation via the Orcas Island Community Foundation (click above to do it online), or simply mail a check to the Chamber of Commerce (PO Box 252, Eastsound WA, 98245).  Thank you OICF for your administrative help with this fund!

EASTSOUND FIREWORKS: Join us for another Eastsound Fireworks show on Friday, July 4th.  The Community Band will be performing from 9 pm, and the fireworks show gets underway a few minutes after 10 pm. See you then!

DEER HARBOR FIREWORKS: 10pm, Thursday, July 34d. Deer Harbor Fireworks. Come and watch the fireworks from the docks, while listening to great music and hanging out with good friends.

LIONS CLUB SALMON BBQ: Saturday July 5th, 1:00-7:00 Lions Club Salmon BBQ: This is always a treat. Get your tickets at Kay’s Antiques or the Cherie Lindholm Offices. Tickets are currently $16 but will go up to $18 the day of the 5th. So get them fast!!
