Elizabeth Waring, MD
Island Obstetrics & Gynecology – 24th Street welcomes new provider Elizabeth Waring, MD, to its clinic. Waring comes to Island Health from Onancock, Virginia where she was a physician and physician consultant at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for the last four years.
Originally from central Ohio, Waring earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her OB/GYN Residency and Internship, along with a Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System/Medical College of Virginia. She is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a junior fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Waring sees the relationship between a patient and her OB/GYN doctor as unique, personal and long-term in a way unlike any other field of medicine.
“I take that relationship seriously and enjoy providing meaningful, personalized care to my patients through all stages of life,” Waring said. “Getting to know my patients is paramount, as my goal is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care that addresses their needs with shared decision making.”
Particularly, Waring is interested in low-intervention childbirth, postpartum depression, addressing the needs of women and their partners experiencing difficulties during high-risk pregnancies, and supporting patients with gynecologic cancer.
Chief Medical Officer Jason Hogge, MD, said he looks forward to the full spectrum of care Waring brings.
“Dr. Waring is not only highly skilled in the many areas of obstetrics and gynecology, she is deeply interested in the various stages of her patients and is equipped to help them medically, but also with palliative care that can often be necessary.”
Prior to medical school, Waring worked as a professional chef and still enjoys cooking and baking for friends and family. Her true love is being outside hiking with her dog, Rouxbee, and said farmers markets and secondhand bookstores are her happy places.
