— from Governor Inslee’s Office —
Gov. Jay Inslee signed an executive order today affirming and clarifying Washington state’s policies for state agencies who provide services to immigrant Washingtonians.
“Washington has always been and will always remain a place that welcomes and embraces people of all faiths, all nationalities and all orientations,” Inslee said. “This executive order makes clear that Washington will not be a willing participant in promoting or carrying out mean-spirited policies that break up families and compromise our national security and community safety.”
“Our officers are here to keep the public safe by enforcing the criminal laws, not to act as ICE officers or enforce civil violations,” Inslee said.
Inslee signed Executive Order 17–1 Thursday morning alongside a crowd of Washington state-elected officials.

Thank you Governor Inslee. Let’s hope that your actions serves as a model for other states to do likewise.
I’m liking Gov. Inslee more and more.
I am as willing as the Governor, to welcome and embrace “people of all faiths, all nationalities and all orientations.”
I only require them to get here in accordance with our laws, rather than by “jumping the waiting line,” and sneaking in.
People who come here illegally are showing a willingness to ignore, or to break, our nation’s established laws.
Very, very few of these people are refugees from war zones or other dangers. Most of them came here for purely economic reasons.
Since there was no real danger driving them, they have no excuse for having broken our laws, and for taking immigration-spaces away from those who are patiently awaiting their turn to enter legally.
I would like to see a return of the old Bracero Program. It was a legal means for foreigners to enter the US temporarily for employment, without the necessity of waiting through a quota queue for a residency card.
Failing that, I vote for removal, if not for all illegal immigrants then at least for those who have broken other laws while residing here illegally.
And their “anchor children” can leave with them, to return as citizens when they reach legal adulthood and no longer require direct parental supervision.
