Shoshana Avree and Holly Berman are opening a new cafe on Orcas Island: HOME will make its debut on Thursday, April 9 from 4-8 pm at the Odd Fellows Hall, downstairs.
The new restraunteurs will be serving vegetarian” soup for the soul” along with curry-roasted yam bites and gluten-free muffins and healthy chai ( dairy-free, sugar-free and caffeine-free). Soup will be sold by the cup, bowl and quarts. The chai will be sold in two sizes and take home quarts.
This week’s soup is a hearty Mushroom-Barley, and the muffin specialties are Strawberry-Almond.
Shoshana and Holly plan to create a cafe with a homey feel for sharing food and company with their neighbors. HOME will use very little — if any — paper products, which means real plates, cups and silverware and cloth napkins.
Bulk orders are welcome by placing them through Shoshana at shoshana@rockisland.com .
A portion of the proceeds will go to 38 Nepalese children that Shoshana is working with. Shoshana will also be selling beautiful cards from Nepal at HOME. To learn more about the cafe, call 376-3945.
Information about the Nepalese children is available at www.achildslife-nepal.org.
