It was just over four years ago, February 2013, when The Exchange burned down. As Orcas Recycling Services (ORS) prepares for a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, Apr. 5, it may not be possible to fully tell the story without a 300-page tome to walk the reader through this brilliant and glowing example of how our Orcas community pulled together to make the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding happen.
On Wednesday, Apr. 5, at 1 p.m., the public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony that will begin the construction process.

What a journey! The groundbreaking Is wonderful– & only $31,000 is still needed to actually open the new Exchange to the public! Thank you Orcas, for recognizing & supporting the tremendous value The Exchange brings to all islanders
Wonderful news! The people running the transfer station and the board at ORS have worked so hard! Let’s support their efforts full-on! If you haven’t checked out their website, it is top notch and full of educational tips. Thank you, ORS, for working tirelessly against great odds to make this happen. I plan to donate again after taxes and before car insurance!
