From Justin Taylor, Orcas Golf Club
We will be holding a charity golf tournament on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 to benefit Peter Rutledge and his family. Peter Rutledge graduated from Orcas Island High School in 1997, as one of Orcas Island’s best high school athletes. He went on to play on his college basketball team, and he later married and is a father to two beautiful children.
Peter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April 2011, and completed radiation the following summer. On December 3rd, 2011, two weeks after his second son was born, he suffered a hemorrhage of the tumor. The brain injury has cost him the use of his right side, difficulty with his speech, and extreme fatigue. He is experiencing a long road of rehabilitation.
In an effort to help Peter and his family during this time of emotional and financial trial, we will be holding a Four Player Team Scramble. We will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Entry is $20 per player. This will replace the weekly Tuesday night scramble for that week.
We are looking for businesses or individuals who will pledge a minimum of $10 for every stroke under par for a team of their choosing. Most teams average a few strokes under par. The better each team does, the more money will be raised for Peter and his family.
The winning team will be awarded a prize, and 100% of the entry and green fees paid during this tournament will go to the Rutledge Family.
Please show your support and come out and play in this great event or sponsor a team and pledge an amount you will donate for every stroke your team is under. See you there!
Sign up at the clubhouse or call 376-4400.
