— from Hilary Canty, Orcas Community Foundation —
GiveOrcas is in the final countdown. The annual grant program, run through the Orcas Island Community Foundation, will wrap up on May 27. So far, 120 donors have contributed nearly $30,000 towards the proposals in this year’s Grant Catalog. What amazing support for the many great programs that keep Orcas thriving.
Our community health depends on community participation. There are still plenty of proposals that need your help. There are opportunities to support the arts, provide counseling, improve housing, and protect our environment, all ready to roll with your support (www.giveorcas.org).
The Annual Awards Celebration will be on Thursday, June 2 nd , from 4-6 pm at the Orcas Center’s Madrona Room. A highlight of the day will be the presentation of the Youth Philanthropy Awards. The Senior Class of the Orcas Island High School will announce who they have selected to receive $5000, a gift sponsored by a local donor. We hope you will join us.
