Wednesday, May 1, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Driftwood Nursery

— from Dianne Macondray for San Juan County Master Gardeners —

Garden season is underway with all the beautiful rain providing moisture for our germinating seeds and returning perennials. This is a reminder that the San Juan County Master Gardeners will be returning to Driftwood Nursery on May 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please bring fresh samples of plants which lack vigor, are diseased, or infested with insects sealed in a plastic ziplock bag, containing a damp paper towel. For preservation, please refrigerate your specimen if collected in advance. A large sample including leaves, stems, flowers and fruits of your diseased plant will have a greater chance of proper diagnosis.

You are also required to submit a completed plant form, which can be found at sanjuan.wsu.edu or obtained at the Master Gardener table. Insect specimens for identification may also be submitted. We will be having two clinics per month (1 in Friday Harbor and 1 on Orcas) to diagnose the problems you submit, and will either email or call you with recommendations.

Further questions can be directed to Caitie at the WSU extension office at 360-370-7663.
