Free classes offered Sunday, January 9 and 16

James David Sneed offers a class in “Gardening for Food Security” this Sunday at the Odd Fellows Hall from noon to 4 p.m.

Gardening for Food Security will present low-tech, low-cost methods for raising the food you need for nutrition and enjoyment. This free workshop shows how gardening can be cost-free, use only local materials, increase self-sufficiency, improve nutrition and flavor and re-unite us with the Nature our ancestors knew.

  • Learn the very few tools you really need, and how to select, maintain and repair them.
  • Free your garden from noise and pollution.
  • Feed the soil so it can feed the plants
  • Avoid pest and disease damage in your garden.
  • Find garden spots for the landless
  • Grow the right varieties for our area.
  • Safe sources for seeds, bulbs, tubers and plants.

Next Sunday, January 16,  Sneed will offer a class titled “Completing the Cycle.” The class will also be at the Odd Fellows Hall from noon 4 p.m.
