Tuesday, March 12, 7 p.m., Emmanuel Parish Hall
from SeaDoc Society & YMCA Camp Orkila
The irreverent Dr. Milton Love will grace Orcas Island in a booking-signing and lecture with an in-depth look at some of the fascinating fishes of the Salish Sea.
Milton Love is the author of the 672-page book, Certainly More Than You Want to Know About the Fishes of the Pacific Coast, and has published over 90 scientific publications on the fishes of the Pacific Coast. He will discuss highlights from this book and will entertain the audience with amazing facts and stories about fishes.
Dr. Milton Love is a research biologist at the Marine Science Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has conducted research on the marine fishes of California for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, using a manned research submersible, Dr. Love has carried out surveys of the fish populations living around natural reefs and oil/gas platforms throughout the southern California Bight.
He knows fish. And he promises the lecture will be “better than a swift kick where the sun don’t shine.” We know that as a world-famous fish biologist, Milton missed his calling as a standup comedian and we anticipate lecture will be amazing and will leave the audience fascinated with fish.
Darvill’s bookstore will have Milton’s books available at the lecture.
