Need to get the word out about your business, but don’t have a big marketing budget? Join us for an informative workshop and learn how to tell people about your goods and services – for little cost.
In partnership with Skagit Valley College, the San Juan County Economic Development Council will present the workshop on Thursday, Feb. 24, from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
The workshop, entitled Shoestring Marketing, will cover helpful tips for small business owners looking to improve their marketing efforts at little additional cost. The course will be co-taught by Peggy Long, owner of Naknek Charters & Diving and Board President of the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce, and Victoria Compton, director of the Economic Development Council and longtime marketing consultant.
The workshop will include topics as varied as PR, direct mail, e-marketing, networking and cold calling – all low-cost marketing tools. We’ll also cover how to stimulate “buzz” about products and services, and how to leverage multiple channels (from social media to logos) to create a strong identity. Participants in the workshop will leave with the resources they need to create a robust marketing plan.
The workshop will be held at Skagit Valley College’s community room, downstairs at 221 Weber Way in Friday Harbor. Advanced registration is recommended: info@sanjuansedc.org, or (360) 378-2906. Cost for the workshop is $15 to cover materials.
The San Juan County Economic Development Council’s Business Education Series was created by the EDC in response to concerns from local business owners and overall increased demand from new businesses. This series will present a variety of business topics designed for both those opening a new business or those wanting to take their business to the next level. The series will be held on San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez Islands, in rotation.
The San Juan County Economic Development Council (EDC) strives to strengthen and diversify the economy of San Juan County. We believe a strong economy builds a strong community. The EDC works to build an environment that helps business owners create jobs. We serve business: linking organizations and resources, providing valuable information, rendering assistance and advocating for an improved island business environment.
