eastsoundIt’s a 50/50 Conversation: Eastsound Village … What’s Your Vision?

Join us Wednesday, October 26th at the Eastsound Fire Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eastsound Village is the center of Orcas Island. As our main commercial hub, it’s also slated as the area of the island to carry the greatest density of housing. Projected growth of our Village, and pressing housing needs for those who live & work on Orcas, require our attention and input.

The Eastsound Planning and Review Committee (EPRC) is the advisory committee to our County Council Members on matters pertaining to Eastsound. Over the past several months, a collective of local architects have developed a draft “Vision for Eastsound.”

On Wednesday, October 13, a community meeting was held to begin gathering feedback and catalyze workshop groups to continue prioritizing and refining recommendations that in 2017 will go before the County Council.

All too often, these crucial community meetings are lightly attended by our younger community members. Yet many of our island businesses and farms have young owners and workers. The EPRC, and other elder islanders, are interested in hearing from those under the age of 50 on what they want to see developed in the community they, too, will be living in.

So, we are hosting a 50/50 Conversation- looking to bring a good number of those UNDER 50 together with an OVER 50 contingent to dive into dialogue on the Future of Eastsound.

To prepare, take a look at the Vision for Eastsound document. Priorities that were generated at the October 13th meeting will be shared, too.

Youngers, we need your input! Please share this invitation with your friends and join us.

And, Olders, we look forward to your participation, too.
