||| FROM DAVID RUSSELL, M.D. |||
After much thought and consideration, I have chosen not to sign with Island Hospital when they take over management of the Orcas Medical Center in April. I plan on taking some time off but I am exploring the possibility of reopening my private practice if I can find a suitable location.

I have loved the care and attention your have given me. I look forward to your next steps. Be well.
I have very much enjoyed you being my doc. You will be dearly missed.
I agree with Ed.
You have been my Doctor since you first came to Orcas. I hope I do not have to educate another Dr. I will follow you to your private practice if you choose to go that route.
Wanda
I look forward to your being my doctor wherever your office is located on Orcas.
I
We are very sad to hear of your decision although we have been expecting it.
Karen and I have really enjoyed your being our doctor.
If you move to another location on Orcas let us know, and we will follow, if not, maybe we will see
you in Hawaii.
I am disturbed that the local physician that I trust the most has decided not to participate in the new program. Something smells. I hope to follow David as well.
Thank you Dr. Russell. We hope to continue to follow you in your practice. Wishing you the best and hope to see you again.
The kindest thing one can say is that the Commissioners misinterpreted their mission. In so doing they have brought us within three months of a transition riddled with compromises . Every mine needs a canary. Thank you Dr. Russell.
Please keep us informed, I too would like to remain your patient
Yep, I’m in the parade too. Every best wish, Dr. Russell, with personal hope to remain on your client list if/whenever it happens.
Dr Russell, if you do decide to re-enter with your practice, just let us know. We will leave the Light on for you.
Thank you for the years of service you have graced us with.
Brian’s Dad.
Dr. Russell,
You have been our trusted primary physician for 11 years, and the Medical Center is losing a great doctor. Gerry and I thank you for your compassionate care and excellent advice, and we wish you well in whatever you choose to do next. If you do open a new practice, we would like to remain your patients.
We moved here 5 years ago and it was hard to let go of our trusted physician of many years on the mainland. We were so happy to have found you! We were finally able to let go and trust you with our medical care. I’m sure you have some very good reasons for leaving and we do wish you well in your future endeavors. However, if you do decide to practice again on Orcas we would be overjoyed! Please keep us posted on what you decide.
Dr. Russell, enjoy your time off. I’m sure a respite is well-deserved. But, please do open a private practice. Best wishes!
We hope you stay on Orcas Dr. Russel. You have provided such great care to both Dan and myself.
You are a total gem, professional and kind all day and everyday– I’m going to miss working with you.
It is such a gift to call your doctor a friend. I was given an opportunity over 14 years ago to learn and grow under Dr. Russell’s private practice and followed him to UW Medical Center. I will always be grateful for the chance he took on me and for the love and kindness he has given my family as their physician. Thank you for your gift and knowledge in caring for others. I am always a fan!
Please give an update soon. Orcas Island medical care is a bit confusing at the moment and if there is any hope of you opening your own practice, I’d be more than grateful.
Elle, Dr. Russell HAS opened his own practice — for at least a year now. It”s called Orcas Island Family Medicine.
