HEADS UP NOTIFICATION DECEMBER GIRDER DELIVERY & PLACEMENT:
There are seven 46 ton girders to be delivered from Tacoma and placed on the new abutments. It will take seven separate days to accomplish this task.
Tentative girder delivery and placement is scheduled to take place over seven separate days beginning Dec 12 through Dec 16th M-F and again Dec 19th-20th M-Tues.
Weather permitting, the best estimate is arrival at the Orcas WSF Landing slightly after 6:00 AM and driving to the bridge site.
The total length of the tractor and rear steer car is approximately 100 ft long and will straddle the one-lane detour bridge until the girder is picked by a crane at each end.
This will require a temporary closure of the detour bridge so each girder can be placed. At this time, the best guess is a closure beginning around 8:30 AM or around 9:00 AM each day and lasting approximately 20-40 minutes.
The pedestrian bridge will remain open. Please drive carefully on Deer Harbor Road during transport of the girders.
At this time, you now know everything I know. We will inform you of any additional information and schedule changes. Thank you for your patience.
