A community reading of Martin Luther King’s speech, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence” will be heard on Monday, April 4 at 5:15 pm at the Parish Hall of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound.
On April 4, 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered this speech at Riverside Church in New York City. It was exactly one year to the day before he was assassinated.
Organizer Sharon Abreu says, “The messages in the speech are very timely. This is a chance for us to come together and energize each other to keep Martin Luther King’s dream – and our dream – alive.”
The speech can be accessed online at https://www.deanza.edu/faculty/swensson/king.html
