The Orcas Island Community Band prides itself in musical variety. The Band’s Orcas Center concert, Spring Things & Flings, on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. is no exception.
Approximately 30 musicians will perform Russian folk songs, TV show theme songs, fun marches, Spanish tunes, Romanian rhapsodies, and a modern composition conducted by guest director Darren Dix.
The Band’s mission is to give local musicians a venue in which to play and keep traditional concert band music alive in today’s busy electronic world. Additionally the community band believes music is for everyone and admission is by donation so everyone can afford to attend. Children and families welcome. Show the young ones how fun a band can be.
