Chef Steve Debaste of the New Leaf Restaurant at the Outlook Inn

By Madie Murray

The Farm to Cafeteria Program is pleased to present Steve Debaste as our May Celebrity Chef preparing and serving a delicious lunch on Thursday  May 19 in our public school cafeteria. The menu will include fresh taco salads made with organic beef from Coffelt Farm and local greens and a fresh fruit dessert.

Chef Debaste earned 2006 Pacific Northwest Chef of the Year and has led the kitchens in Seattle at 1904 Restaurant and Wine Bar, the first Palomino, and for Microsoft and Guckenheimer. His family once lived in a chateau in France, “Chateau d Talcy” in the Loire Valley, but he now calls The New Leaf Café home and is inspired by the wealth of local organic farms and fresh seafood.

Parents and community members are invited to have lunch with the kids on May 19 from 11:30 to 12:45.  Cost is $5 for adults which includes a beverage and a trip to the salad bar.
