George Shangrow, Festival Favorite, will be honored with a Champagne Tribute this Friday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m., and by fellow musicians who will step in for him at the Music Lovers Seminars .

Victoria Parker, Executive Director of the Chamber Music Festival, announced that the Music Lovers Seminars, scheduled to be presented by George Shangrow, will continue, with several musicians coming forward to offer the seminar presentations, “honoring George’s legacy. It’s been heartwarming to have such offers of support to continue to be able to offer the seminars.”

Shangrow was killed in a car collision on July 31, 2010.

With the loss of  Shangrow, the first series of Music Lovers Seminars, scheduled for August 12 and 13, will not take place: those who had purchased tickets may apply them to other Music Lovers Seminars or to tickets to concerts that are still available. Alternatively, the first series’ tickets may be contributed as a gift towards an endowment fund in Shangrow’s name for the Spring Music Lovers’ lecture.
