Come join JP and the OK Rhythm Boys for a celebration of local music, including the release of their new CD “JP and the OK Rhythm Boys Don’t Sing (much)” on Saturday, December 18, from 2-4 pm at Darvill’s Bookstore.

The CD features the popular trio (JP Wittman on fiddle, backed by his Rhythm Boys, Gordon Koenig and Anita Orne on guitar and bass) playing a wide range of tunes, from swing to hoe down. You’ll find standards like Stardust and Summertime, old favorites like Faded Love and You Belong to Me, fun medleys including Whiskey Before Breakfast, Golden Slippers, and much more, all done in the inimitable JP and the OKRB’s style.  The band is fronted by JP’s sizzling fiddle, and while they don’t sing, much, they do sing 6 words, over 2 of the songs (ok, really only 5 different words, one is repeated.  Like the disc title says, they don’t sing (much).  Why bother, when you’ve got a fiddle like this?)

There is a wide range of musical talent on Orcas.  Local CDs are the perfect holiday gift for locals or more distant friends and relatives, and make a lovely hostess gift during this, or any other time of the year.

Full disclosure – as of the writing of this article, due to holidays and inclement weather, the discs have not quite made it to the island.  But the band is cautiously optimistic that they will make it in time for the party!  And, whether they do or not, come and enjoy some good tunes, snacks, friendship, and great shopping, whichever music you go home with.
