||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
If you love to sing, now’s your chance for a lot of fun. Join Orcas Choral Society and learn great music in an atmosphere of joy. We begin Tuesday, September 17 with a 6 p.m. potluck and open rehearsal at the Madrona Room in Orcas Center. Come check it out!
Under the baton of Artistic Director Bruce Langford, Orcas Choral Society rehearsals are great fun and highly instructive. Last December, he brought down the house with the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah.
“This year, we’re singing Benjamin Britten’s beloved Ceremony of Carols arranged for men’s and women’s voices, plus a wide range of largely secular carols,” Langford said. “The mix gives us great harmonies, music that will stay with you long after the concerts are done.”
Orcas Choral Society community chorus rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Our Holiday Concert will be Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m., both at the Orcas Center.
To learn more, see the Orcas Choral Society website: orcaschoralsociety.org, or ask for a registration form at info@orcaschoralsociety.org.
In addition, Bruce will continue his popular lecture series at the Orcas Island Public Library this fall, focused this time on music history. Lectures are Sept. 18 and 25, plus Oct. 2 and 9, all at 6:30 p.m.
For the joy of singing!
