The first workshop held in our Public School Garden was on July 23. Those who came made calendula salve from the garden’s own flowers, dried and steeped in oil for more than 3 weeks, and beeswax. They experimented with adding dock, fresh petals, lavender and blackberry. If you have a lot of flowers coming on in your garden, it’s super easy to make this healing ointment. And the smell is divine!
Also, the zucchinis keep coming in the school garden, and we have a new chalkboard on the front gate. Check it for upcoming events and garden news!
The Garden will once again be selling produce at the Farmers Market Saturday and the next Workshop will be “Art in the Garden” on August 13th, 11 to 1 in the School Garden. And it’s free!
