From the Orcas Island Booster Club
Webster’s Dictionary states that “competition” and “cooperation” are antonyms.
The Orcas Island Booster Club and a very generous member of our community would like to offer a different perspective.
On Wednesday morning, June 20, the Orcas Island Booster Club and Orcas Island School District received an offer from an anonymous donor presenting us with a competition that will requires cooperation in order to achieve success. The offer is a simple one:
Raise $10,000 for Orcas Athletics and it will be matched with a $10,000 donation for fall sports!
And while we haven’t even wrapped up the current school year, with this challenge in place, the Orcas Island Booster Club is officially kicking off our Fundraising Campaign for the 2012-2013 school year. There has never been a better time to make a donation to the Orcas Island Booster Club to help support athletics in our schools. Your donation today will do twice as much to keep our student athletes active, promote academic excellence and help maintain programs that serve over 65% of the student population in our middle and high school.
To help us rise to this challenge and to follow our progress, please visit www.orcasboosters.org. You can donate safely on-line, mail your contribution to P.O. Box 217 Olga, WA 98279 or simply stop one of our board members on the street! If you have further questions please call Dianna Hofmann at 376-7585.
The Orcas Island Booster Club is a 501c3 volunteer non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting and fostering interest and opportunities in all school athletics, recognizing that there is correlation between athletic opportunities and student
success – both in the classroom and beyond.
Help us rise to the challenge and of course — GO VIKINGS!
