The Orcas Island Artworks features oil paintings of crows by Shawna Franklin through the month of August.
“I am thinking about capturing a gesture, describing the form, and attempting to create a sense of space. Crows seemed to me to be a perfect animal to draw and paint as they are expressive in the way they move and congregate, and they are infinitely curious and intelligent creatures.”
Shawna has an undergraduate degree in design from the University of Minnesota, and a second undergraduate degree in biology. She co-owns an award winning kayak school, Body Boat Blade International, which is based on Orcas Island, where she has lived since 1995.
The Artworks is open daily from 10 to 6 daily in their new temporary location at 217 Main Street in Eastsound. Watch for a grand opening celebration coming soon.
