POEM IN THOUGHTS
— by George Karnikis —
There are poems for me that swim in a sea of
thoughts. I cast my baited hook into the murky
water and try to lure the ones of the right kind.
Thoughts come and go like ghosts of yesteryear.
Those with the most to reveal are keepers.
Sometimes I admire my catch because it brings
secrets from the deep. I open it and thoroughly
investigate its contents.
Some are covered with layers of time and they
pull me in. It is not always easy to come out.
Other times they open like bright flowers and I
can find, in their petals, the meaning of my
poem.
