||| FROM DAVE KOSIUR |||
Starting January 3rd, Datura Böes will be exhibiting her abstract art on the walls of the Orcas Island Library. Datura is an abstract artist, living and working on Orcas Island for the past decade. Self taught, she dabbles mainly in acrylics and began utilizing painting as a means of healing trauma.
Embracing her deep German roots, she is drawn to Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophy on the art of healing, finding curative empowerment in my work. Inspired by the likes of Gerhard Richter, Paul Klee and Anslem Kiefer – her paintings are born from a strong emotional connection and encompass an ever-evolving range of bold colors and dramatic styles.
