Land Bank Seed Saving project helps Garry Oak Restoration on Turtleback Mountain

Our first seed crop from the Red Mill Farm nursery traveled to its new home – Turtleback Mountain Preserve on Orcas Island. A mixture of native grasses and wildflowers, the seeds were sown into Garry oak habitat restoration areas within the preserve.

Orcas Preserve Steward, Ruthie Dougherty, is pleased to be at this stage only five years into our oak restoration program on the mountain. Click here to learn more about the Salish Seed Project and how you can help!
