If you are on Facebook you may have spotted the “Flat Lance” campaign from the Orcas Island Community Foundation. It’s all in support of the Foundation’s 2015 Holiday Catalog benefiting selected island non-profits. Learn all about the campaign at oicf.us and you can review the Holiday Catalog at giveorcas.org.
Wow! Little did the Community Foundation know how popular “Flat Lance” would be! Thanks to the many community members who have sought him out and the many businesses who have hosted him, the Community Foundation’s Facebook page is jam packed with posts. So far, OICF has raised over $10,000 for the fantastic programs in this year’s Catalog. But there are more donations needed to fully fund all the causes listed at giveorcas.org.
Like so many new adventures, the Foundation did not really know who would be interested in hosting “Flat Lance”. As it turned out, many businesses and organizations called OICF and asked to get involved. There are still a few slots available, so if you wanted to join the party, please give Kate a call at 376-6423 and they will see if they can work you onto Lance’s dance card. If it is not possible this year, they will certainly try for 2016, so let them know!
