A new series of Beach Watchers Stewardship classes is now accepting applications for its program beginning next March.
Beach Watchers Program is a watershed-to-marine stewardship education program offered by WSU Extension- San Juan County. It is modeled after the highly successful WSU Master Gardener Volunteer Program format.
Beach Watcher volunteers receive 100 hours of training from Washington State University in the physical, biological, and cultural aspects of marine steward ship. In return trained Beach Watchers provide 100 hours of volunteer service back to the community through education, research and stewardship.
Classes begin on March 25, 2010 and end May 13, 2010. There will be 15 classes total, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The classes will be held on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan with one class on Yellow Island and potentially, one on Shaw.
