— from Washington State Ferries —

We typically welcome about half a million riders over the long Memorial Day weekend, but nothing’s typical right now. As we are still under the governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” emergency order, I continue to encourage everyone to ride our ferries for essential purposes only. We want to leave enough room on our vessels for frontline workers to safely remain at least 6 feet apart. To maintain these physical-distancing standards, if necessary, we will enforce reduced occupancy on sailings for walk-on passengers. We have already reduced the occupancy for our terminal buildings.

If you must travel on our ferries now, all riders are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings for the health and safety of themselves and our employees.

As a reminder, we will remain on our winter schedules through June 20 with reduced service on several central Puget Sound routes. We don’t yet know what our summer schedules will look like, but we’re currently working on it with our labor partners, and service levels will be dependent on crew availability, vessel availability, ridership and budget.

We highly recommend that riders coming aboard in a vehicle remain in the vehicle to leave space in the passenger cabin for walk-on riders to safely physically distance.

Customers can sign up for email rider alerts, check WSF COVID-19 travel updates and follow WSF on Twitter and Facebook for notification of resumption of regular service and other rider information.
