Jennifer Brennock will teach the class, “Write Like a Photographer,” on Fridays, April 13-May 18 at the Funhouse Commons.
The class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and is co-sponsored by the Skagit Valley College.
Brennock says, “This workshop-based class for writers of all experience levels will use cues from the craft of photography to examine the craft of creative writing.
“We will use the terms ‘texture,’ ‘angle of vision,’ ‘distance,’ ‘scene,’ and ‘contrast’ as challenges for wordsmithing a compelling story. For storytellers in all genres, ‘Write Like a Photographer’ will combine readings of literature, discussion, prompted exercises, revision techniques as well as peer and instructor feedback. We will process our creative efforts in the hypothetical darkroom and watch the intended results and happy accidents emerge.”
The class costs $85. Call 378-3220 to register.
