Important information regarding the washout of Pt. Lawrence Road at Doe Bay:

The project is still on schedule for completion on Wednesday November 24, but as has been stated previous, there is always opportunity for delays as things progress. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

PLEASE READ: As part of Doe Bay Resort’s generous support of the community, parking has been made available to those who have been able to secure second vehicles. However, that parking will be utilized by the resort’s guests starting Sunday at 11 a.m. Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the Doe Bay lot by 11 a.m. on Sunday November 21.

To help support residents, Orcas Island Senior Services and San Juan County are partnering to offer limited bus transport. The service starts Monday the 22 leaving at 7:45 a.m. from the Doe Bay resort near the new footbridge, with the return trip departing from the flag pole/bike rack area outside Island Market at 4:45 p.m. The service will conclude at the end of the return afternoon trip on Wednesday the 24.  The shuttle van holds up to 10 passengers and is driven by community volunteer drivers. This service is for Covid vaccinated passengers only and all riders are required to wear a mask in the van. The service will bring passengers in to Eastsound at the start of the day and return to Doe Bay at the end of the day. Island Rides continues to offer rides and the shuttle is a supplement to their service. Island Rides may be scheduled by calling 360-376-2201.

Thanks to community for ongoing support and patience. So far this response has been a tremendous example of island resilience, spirit, and cooperation.
