There will be a memorial service for Trudy Erwin, who died peacefully last week at the age of 90, at the Orcas Senior Center on Saturday, March 2 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Those who would like to bring something to the community potluck at the event are welcome to do so.

My grandchildren, who are now young adults, have fond memories of making various pots, cups, and bowls with the gentle guiding hands of Trudy, during their summer visits to Orcas. I will always cherish the multitude of photographs I have of them at the wheel with Trudy. She was so amazingly patient and dedicated to this endeavor for ALL those summers. Just imagine all of the households who have a treasure make by a family member because of Trudy!
Wow…RIP Trudy. You sure left your mark on generations of islanders and tourists. All hail the holy pinch pot! Wish I could be there to celebrate and remember.
Our 3 Generation HART family were all so shocked to hear of Trudy’s passing after arriving at Orcas for our yearly family camping trip to the Island. Orcas Island has always felt like a home away from home and Trudy was part of that. She has been a landmark on Orcas Island, did so much to instill a love of artwork, pottery, both in children & adults. We will definitely miss her. My hope is that her legacy will continue, and the pottery wheel will continue to spin in her honor. !!
