Tuesday, Dec. 7

Auditions for “The Curious Savage” at the Grange at 7 p.m. and will consist of readings from the script after a short warm-up period.  If you are unable to attend the audition but want to be considered for a role or if you need additional information, contact Doug Bechtel, at 317-5601. Rehearsals begin soon. A copy of the script is available at the counter at the Library.  A sample rehearsal schedule (subject to change to meet the needs of the actors) is included with the script at the library.

Marine Science Lecture Series Rich Childers from the Department of Fish and Wildlife will speak on the “Life of the Spot Prawn” at 7 p.m. Free. Please park in the upper parking lot at Camp Orkila. Shuttle service from the parking lot to the talk is available before and after the lecture. Orcas Recreation District meets noon to 2 p.m. at the Orcas Senior Center. All are welcome.

Pizza and Open Mic Night at the Doe Bay Cafe. Starts at 5 p.m. $1 from every pizza sale benefits local philanthropy.

Cancer Support Group meets at 5 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Orcas Island Community Church. The meeting is open to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer: survivors, caregivers, or someone currently in treatment. Come for encouragement, resources, and hope. Call 376-4198.

Annual Candlelight Spiral Walk at 3 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, sponsored by Orcas Montessori School and the Salmonberry School. An opportunity for children and adults of all ages to experience a quiet reverence for the beginning of the holiday season. Suggested donation of $5 per family or a gift of nonperishable food for the Orcas Island Food Bank would be warmly appreciated.
