Crow Valley School Dedication and Open House, at 12:30 p.m.Built in 1888,  for the past twenty or so years Crow Valley School has been owned preserved as a museum by Bud McBride and Richard Schneider.  This year Schneider and McBride generously deeded the property over to the Orcas Island Historical Society, along with a substantial monetary endowment to help with upkeep.  The Orcas Historical Society would like to honor Bud & Richard (who will be in attendance) for their generous gift  with a dedication starting at 12:30 pm, followed by a short open house with buffet snacks and beverages.  The Crow Valley School is located on Crow Valley Road next to the north Turtleback Preserve trailhead, about 2.5 miles from Eastsound.  There is no wheelchair access on the school property.  Parking will be assisted by parking attendants. Orcas Garden Club: “Reliable Plants for Sun & Shade.”  Richie Steffen, curator for the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden, will be the featured speaker at 10 a.m. in the Madrona Room of Orcas Center at 10:00 am. International Day of Peace Candlelight Ceremony, an observance to call for peace in all regions of the world, will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Library Park on Prune Alley in Eastsound. “One Man Two Guvnors” National Theatre Live On Screen  at the Orcas Center at 7:30 p.m. A smash hit English version of classic Italian comedy, with sex, food and money are high on the agenda. Tickets are $15 and $11 for students ($2 off for Orcas Center members) and may be purchased on the website or by calling 376-2281 ext 1 or visiting the Orcas Center box office during box office hours which are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon- 4 pm. Ride the Zip Line at YMCA Camp Orkila !  We will be holding by-appointment only would like to invite you to come out and take a ride on our 1000-ft Community Zip days   from 1:00-4:30 p.m.If interested, you must call camp at 360.376.2678 to sign-up for a time assignment.  Please know the number of people in your party at the time of calling.  Maximum weight capacity for a single rider is 285 lbs (subject to change depending on conditions) and children must be entering 3rd grade or older to participate.  Being prompt is important so please plan to arrive at camp 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time.  Please enter through the main entrance on Mount Baker Road and follow signs to the designated parking areas.  Call 360-376-2678.
