American Cancer Society Open House 4:30 – 5:30 pm at the Orcas Island Public Library. Hosted by Taryn Somers, the open house will serve as an opportunity for individuals to come in and pick up information about two local events in San Juan County – Bark For Life on Orcas Island July 17th from 10 am-2 pm, and Relay For Life in Friday Harbor July 24th-25th from 3 pm-noon. Anyone who is interested in learning more about this year’s events can stop by, enjoy some refreshments, ask questions, and gather information! The Children’s House 2010 Culinary Season continues with Seattle’s Jerry Traunfeld from 4 – 7 p.m. at Red Rabbit Farm in Westsound, $125 pp Poppy’s menu presents Jerry’s own style of Northwest cooking, highlighting seasonal ingredients, fresh herbs, and spices. The menu will feature soup, salad, entree, and dessert all from fresh spring ingredients. Indian Island Marine Health Observatory Field Research Days
Join local scientists and community volunteers at Eastsound Waterfront Park in conducting surveys of fish and intertidal animals on low tide days during the spring and summer. Learn about the unique marine life of our home waterfront.
