BJ Arnold presents her newest series ‘Spring Abstraction’
||| FROM BJ ARNOLD for THE ARTWORKS |||
I love the energy and promise of spring.
Every spring I am inspired to attempt to capture the emerging awaking of nature surrounding me. I am, once again, enticed to sketch the budding plants and flowers.
Over the years I have filled numerous sketchbooks with explorations of a variety of ideas that appeal: flowers, landscape, figures, composition, shapes, mark making, and discovering wild and unexpected color combinations.
The last few years I have been intrigued, almost obsessed, with using pen/ink to search, explore, create depth and interest on the abstracted painted surface of these sketchbooks. This new series has been the result of this obsession.
Abstraction, being my favorite form of expression, this new series is inspired by my sketchbook exploration and the joy of spring.
