Kraken Comedy and Sea View Theatre once again bring live stand-up comedy to Eastsound on Thursday, July 20. Hosted by local funny person Jamey Moriarty. The doors (and the lounge where they will be serving alcohol) will be open at 6:00 and the show will start whenever Ingrid is damn well ready (ostensibly at 7:00)!What do we have too much of on Orcas? It’s July, so your fourth answer will be ‘funny people,’ but these are professionals, including Brad Upton, star of the second-most-watched comedy special on YouTube and the third-most-watched in the world, along with Meaghan Elwood and mysterious local Dark Gary.
These are people with career stakes, so they’re probably funnier than, say, the cashier who tells a bad joke and just gets moved to the deli. There also won’t likely be any of that ‘telling bad jokes to your friends to punish them for being your friends’ business that we get up to so often on Orcas. It’s like the verbal equivalent of gut-punches, and in July on Orcas it’s our fourth-biggest headache, so treat yourself to some professional-grade humor at Seaview Theater. And, to repeat an important point, the lounge will be open and they will be serving alcohol.
