Five more spots are available for aspiring young chefs to strut their culinary stuff at the Second Annual Student Chef Competition, to be held February 12, 2011.
The timeframe to submit entries has been extended to January 28.
The Second Annual OISD Student Chef Competition is sponsored by the Farm to Cafeteria Committee. The competition allows for every Orcas and Waldron public school student ( grades Kindergarten through 12th grade) to submit entries for the greatest sandwich, soup, dessert, casserole, meatloaf, pasta, omelet, granola, salad or taco in the world — please submit entries to the Orcas School c/o Bruce Orchid by January 28!
This year, at least one of the main items in the recipe must be obtainable from a local farm. It does not have to be in season here on Orcas at the time, but must be obtainable from a local farm when it is in season.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a $200 gift card. Three other winners will receive $100 gift cards. Please see Bruce Orchid in room 425 at Orcas Elementary School for more information on how to apply.
